eth0 is down

I booted up in Damn Vulnerable Linux, and for some reason even though it said dhcp was broadcasting ip in the boot up messages, I have no internet!

I need to know how to reboot my eth0 device and see what happens.

Are you aware that Damn Vulnerable Linux is purposely designed with many problems. Your task is to find and fix them. It's a learning distro, intended for people who want to learn more about system security, attacks and defenses, etc.

Go into the console and type
to see what ip address you have set on eth0, then type
ifdown eth0
to stop eth0 and
ifup eth0
to start it again.

Hope this helps.

I was aware that DVL has security problems. Hence the name. I just want to have it on my box so I can practice hacking it from my main computer.

I left the box on for like half hour, and then I go back to it and for some reason. It has internet again.

Like wow this is weird. But thanks for the advice you guys.

Happy hacking
