Have you read the HowTo's on http://www.linuxdoc.org, and maybe checked out the manufacturers web site for any possible driver downloads or support info?

I did

Tricky

I have check http://www.dlink.com and cannot find any updated drivers for Linux RH7 for D-Link DFE-530TX NIC.

I also tried the VIA-RHINE.C from the HOWTO's where you told me to check and it did not work and then I also updated RH 7.0 Package Enhancement from http://www.redhat.com/support/errata...a-updates.html and it did not also work.

Its gettimg crazy this is the fourth day and I am spending so much time with Linux to just configure an NIC.

Any advise please.

OK, I dont mean any disrespect, but are you sure you have the network settings correctly entered? The DLink you have is the same model I have and it works well. But initiallu I had problems because A. I did not configure the network settings correctly, and B. the BIOS had the PnP option turned on.

I guess everything is configured accordingly ... and it is still not opertaional and now I am going to upgrade my kernel and compile it.

If you have any furthe suggestions Please feel free to provide me with it.

Thank you for your input.

When the machine starts, can you see the irq for the realtek?. Is ok?
Wich error says ifconfig?
I first have this problem: My realtek donīt go, but then I changed my Award BIOS that says 'PnP OS' to 'NO' and the realtek goes ok.

Bye

its giving me a grief now I am about to upgrade and compile my kernel to 2.4.3 .. I know there is 2.4.4 available.

Kind Regards

Another thing, Mohsin:
I think my last suggestion:
Can you assign from your BIOS a IRQ to this card?
Try it!

Etho

You didn't say which Realtek you had, but I had one a 8029 and neva did get it working. Why not just buy another Nic, like a 3com model, their real cheap now days and most 3com's are always compatible.

Re: Etho

Yes, I have 8019 Realtek. I did try the 3COM, Intel Ether Express too but no luck.

I found the option in my BIOS and now I have set my BIOS to use the IRQ 10 first available and have set my Realtek's IRQ 10 and Adress 300.

Let's see if it works now.

Any further assistance is appreciated.

Regards
