/etc/fstab question

How would i setup my /etc/fstab and grub.conf file so it would work in gentoo

aus9 01-27-2008 07:21 PM

since you show Fedora core 5....does your fstab question relate to a multi-partition system and you want to read/write from one distro to the other?

2) when you installed gentoo, what bootloader did you choose?

where did you install it? ie did you install it to the mbr or to the /boot partition of gentoo?

The boot i use is grub.:)

for my my boot i useing 100

for my swap i am useing 512

and then i useing the rest of the hardrive for root.I hope that helps

kind of...to get grub solved we need to be a little bit more explicit.

so you have no Fedora, yes?

2) what is your current /etc/fstab...assuming you can get in. Its not clear to me, if you are able to boot into the new install of gentoo?

if your part structure is.......grubspeak and kernel root=...stuff
/dev/hda1 primary /boot.......(hd0,0)
/dev/hda2 primary swap
/dev/hda3 primary /...........kernel /boot/vmlinuz (blah blah)...root=/dev/hda3

/dev/hda1 primary /boot.......(hd0,0)
/dev/hda2 primary swap
/dev/hda3 extended
/dev/hda5 logical /...........kernel /boot/vmlinuz (blah blah)...root=/dev/hda5

What would my /etc/fstab look like?
