etc/fstab error

Hi there,

I am running RHEL 4, I was trying toset ACL on a new partion and make some changes to etc/fstab file. Now every time I reboot , I get error cannot mound the new partion I created and I cannot get innto my system now.

How do I boot my system into some sort of recovery mode and modify the etc/fstab file ?

You can use a rescue disk that comes with RedHat or you can use any live-cd you are comfortable with. Boot using the live-cd. Mount the root partition of Red Hat and then edit the fstab file. Once you are done...reboot into Red Hat. It won't be as difficult as you feel .

Or you could boot with 'init=/bin/sh', edit /etc/fstab and then exec /sbin/init to continue booting. You'd need to remount / rw before editing the file, then remount ro afterwards.
