Error upon start-up KED

I get this when I start KED ''The Composite Manager crashed twice within a minute and is therefore disabled for this session.''

Followed by....

You must use XOrg ≥ 6.8 for translucency and shadows to work.
Additionally, you need to add a new section to your X config file:
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"

Now, I tried to add the line, but I don't have write access even with root. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

"cd (directory with your X config file)",
"su -s" to root,
"chmod 644 (config file)"

Now root has read/write, group and others have read only
