Error upgrading to RH 7.3?

First of all, if this belongs in the Distribution thread, please accept my appologies. I wasn't sure if it was a newbie thing or not since I'm a newbie.

I've been trying to upgrade from RedHat 7.2 to 7.3 by booting from the first CD and choosing Upgrade in the GUI. About 1/4 through the upgrade, I get:

"There was an error installing _______. This can indicate media failure, lack of disk space, and/or hardware problems. This is a fatal error and your installation will be aborted. Please verify your media and try your install again."

Where _______ is varies depending on what packages I try to install so it's not a problem with a specific package. I have plenty of disk space (df reports only 17% of the drive is full) and I've run
"linux mediacheck" on the CDs to verify their MD5 sums (I even burnt the installation CDs on two separate machines just to be sure).

I went in and looked at /root/upgrade.log and in it, I found:

"unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/apps/kcalc.palc.png: cpio: rename failed - operation not permitted." (kcalc.palc.png changes depending on which packages I choose to install). However, this error always occurs approximately 1/4 through the installation.

Any idea what's going wrong? I'd rather not have to start with 7.3 from scratch!

Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Jon
