Error reading dual layer DVD disk on Fedora 5
 

My laptop is having problem reading a dual layer DVD. The DVD drive is dual layer capable. I am using Fedora 5 on a Lenovo Y Series laptop.

This is what I tried to do:

I tried to dump some big files (totaling 4.5 GB) from a dual layer disk to my hard drive. After copying for about 10 minutes it gave copy error, which did not go away after "Retry". I suspect the copy failed when the layer changed.

The DVD drive otherwise behaves pretty normally. Read and write cause no problem. My hard disk also has enough space to hold the copied files.

The DVD disk is perfectly fine. The same operation succeeded on a different laptop with Windows XP and a much older DVD drive.
