Red face error opening some folders in external drives


i am having an external drive make WD 2500 BEV . usually i keep films on that and also songs . yesterday i copied some films from another computer to the disk . when i open that folder some empty folders and some decoded languages appear . i scanned that folder and the result came it cant be opened it is been used by another program like that . still it is showing 16 gb on the folder . pls advice

You corrupted the files by not unmounting it cleanly on the other computer, I would think.

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

It's hard to guess what might have gone wrong, especially without a little more info. Could you kindly tell us which distro and program you are using to read the films, as well as the OS and program used to create them? It might also be helpful to know the copy software used in the transfer, and the file type/extension.
