Error message


i am linux newbie and i edited my squid.conf file to include an acl but its giving me an error message when i try to restart the squid service.. this is the error
init_cache_dir /var/spool/squid... /etc/init.d/squid: line 62: 2660 Aborted
$SQUID -z -F -D >> /var/log/squid/squid.out 2>&1
Starting squid: /etc/init.d/squid: line 42: 2661 Aborted $SQUID $SQUID_OPTS >> /var/log/squid/squid.out 2>&1

read the contents of /var/log/squid/squid.out for some clues.

well what command are you running??

try "less /var/log/squid/squid.out"

Thank you, its saying FATAL: Could not determine fully qualified hostname. Please set 'visible_hostname'. how do i solve it

well, you do what the message says! edit the squid.conf file and add a "visible_hostname" entry.
