error message: 'out of frequency range' on monitor

I recently added Debian, in a dual-boot system, with Super OS; the installation went fine, but when I reboot for the first time, and chose Debian, the message 'out of frequency range' came on, and nothing could be done. Super OS is unaffected. What does this error message mean?

xconfig settings?

Can You get to a terminal screen with Ctrl+alt+F1 or F2?

If so, you might have a bad setting in your /etc/X11/xorg.config file. Try to find out what your monitor's recomended frequency settings are, and edit the xorg.config file to change them. I think you're looking for lines starting with "HorizSync" and "VertRefresh"
