Error l 99 99 99


Error L99 99 99

I have A arcade GAMING PC .That for some reason now give L 99 99 99..lots of them and then go no where.. I have Search the net, up to now going no where slowly..I have booted with a rescue linux disk and run a 'root' command..
e2fsck -cfpv /dev /sdb1 where the boot sector reside..the return comannd said that the supper boot is not readable or wrong file exc... an suggested a lot of other switches i do not as yet sure of ,not sure if i have a bad cluster in the boot sector or a corrupt boot record.. also if i can use a xp cd to run a mbr as some threads suggested works!.. dont realy want to mess up .

Any help will be AWESOME thanks Steven123

Try running (from the rescue disk):

yes Thanks BrianL , thanks i have tried running root@sysresccd /root % lilo /dev/sdb gives a answer. Fatal cannot open /etc/lilo.conf Very new in Linux actually lost at best.steven123
