error in /usr/bin directory

when i'm running command to install mysql-server (sudo apt-get install mysql-server) it gives the following errors.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
mysql-server: Depends: mysql-server-5.0 but it is not going to be installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
Then I run this command sudo apt-get -f install by which these errors are shown.

E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?

Your post doesn't really make much sense. Please post the exact command you are running and the message you are getting.

Did you really use sudo what you did the 'apt-get -f install'? Can you please try again to be sure?
