Exclamation error in SuSE installation

i was in YaST setting up my computer to install SuSE 9.0 and then this error message comes up when i clicked install...

"A resizing error has occured

Shrinking your windows partition was not sucessful
the partition has probably not been altered yet

please abort the installation now to reboot windows
check your windows partition and possible shrink it by other means"

what does that mean?
does it have to do with my lack of a big hard drive (i have an 8gb hard drive)

should i just format my C drive and erase everything?

im assuming it means to repartition my hard drive but how do i do that, i am really lost in this installation process can somebody help me

it might be the 8 gig harddrive. i use linux 8.2 and it kinda likes at least 6 gigs for everything...and having xp on the same harddrive makes it kinda tight cause xp is a bit of a space hog might consider adding a second harddrive or if you can afford to lose xp, that would/should give you all the space you need. you could also look at partition programs that will partition your harddrive for you...there are some free ones out there, maybe someone else knows the names, i forget right now.

I had the same problem with suse 9.0. I have a 160gig maxtor HD with 8 partitions of about 20 g each. Win98 is on C and linux wanted to install on K which was completely empty. Yast suggested a repartition of about 7g for linux and the rest for windows, which I accepted. Then I got the same error msg when I tried to continue the install. It said I should repartion the drive outside of linux then try again. which is a pretty scary prospect, especially since there is plenty of room (20g) for the linux install anyway.
Thanks for any suggestion.
