Question error in linux

Hello
I am new on linux. I install linux mandrake 9.0 on my P4 system running win98 and 2000 server. I install the product succesfull without any error. I start and login with root. Use command "startx" to go to the mandrake desktop but there an error came . I use XFdrake command to configure my graphics and again use stratx but that error came again. Error is
1) (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
2) Fatal server error
no screen found
3) XID: Fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
Plz help me to solve this error and go to the mandrake desktop.
In installation i select KDE desktop for default.

mandrake detect my graphic card automatically. In configuration of graphics it shows the correct name of my graphic card.

that doesn't necessarily mean that it will work

i've had linux recognise an nvidia integrated chip, several pci modems and an integrated sound chip
and none of them worked

have a look at this post, this might help you
