Error in installing Amsn 0.94 on Ubuntu 5.04
I cannot get it to work. I have downloaded the file and done this:
gzip -d amsn-x_xx.tar.gz
tar xvf amsn-x_xx.tar
after the "tar xvf" thing it unpacks a lotta stuff into a folder called amsn-0.94.orig and i cannot find out what to do now. Either the manual is wrong, or i cant figure it out (Probably the latter )
Any help is wanted. Thanks.

For aMSN, you should be able to cd into the newly created directory and then run "./configure". After that, it's usually just "make" and as root, "make install". You might want to pass options to configure, check the documentation (or possibly "./configure --help") for options you can use. Why are you installing from source anyway? Doesn't Ubuntu let you install stuff with apt-get? You can probably find Gaim and aMSN there, so you don't have to compile them. Edit: Synaptic how-to.
