hey there. i have been trying to download ubuntu 7.10 from the Live CD. I have been getting an error message about bcm43xx_microcode. i have found a few people with this problem in archives, but none of their answers answer my problem. I am running an HP Pavilion dv6000 with Windows Vista, and i basically just want to get rid of my windows and have only Ubuntu. could someone please explain to me in layman's terms what i am supposed to do. I know it is to do with my wireless chip and i have heard things about having to download something like a b43-fwcutter package, but i just dont know how to do it all.

yeah i did. but i didnt quite understand what i was supposed to do with the information. am i supposed to install the cutter with windows before i install Ubuntu? and if so, i dont really know how. I am completely new to Linux. I do have one semester's worth of C and Java programming, but everything was aimed towards windows.
