Error: Cannot retrieve metalink for repository: epel. on centos machine

i have tried a yum --disablerepo=epel -y update ca-certificates , commenting out the mirrorlist line on the /etc/yum.repos.d/epel.repo file , i also tried a yum clean all command but nothing seems to be working as i continue to get the metalink for reository epel error, the yum update i want to install is yum -y install squirrelmail .

To update yum, please try this command:

yum makecache

and tell us if it completes. If it has errors, please show us the errors.
