Error: "cannot exec" apps

Hello again,

My latest problem is that when I try to launch apps such as OpenOffice.org and some others, I get the an error message saying they "cannot exec." This is only true for some apps (unfortunately they are the most useful ones), others work fine. I am a complete newbie and don't know what's going on, but I tried chmod 755 on the apps, but that didn't solve anything (forgive me if it was a ridiculous thing to try, it made sense to me). Anyway, thanks in advance,

-Felix

it depends on how you were trying to execute them and how they were installed.

If this is happening from KDE icons then something is very wrong. If this is happening from the command line then it's probably just your method that is suspect.

Post a few details includingexactly whatyoutype and what the error is we'll fix it.

Also, the gurus down in the Slack subconfernce are very helpful...pop down and ask again if this thread dies.
