Error after Install

I installed MDK 9.1 on my computer and after a successful install my system reboots, I select Linux to load, it goes through a process and then a blank screen with a little "X" in the middle Appears.

What's wrong?
What do I do after 3 installs?

The "X" is probably the X cursor. You will most likely want to log into text mode, then do 'startx' and see what error messages are displayed.

Use a rescue disk and edit your /etc/inittab file so that the default is the number corresponding with "multi-user" instead of X11. Then reboot and you will be at a text login. Use your login and start X by typing the command 'startx'. Then you will see what errors are displayed.

It may very well be your video card that is giving you trouble. What video card do you have? Have you ever used it before with Linux?

X loads, but comp eather locks on load of gnome/kde/whatever or they fail to load, at the screen with an X type control+alt+f2 and see if you ar taken to a login screen
