Error 8

i installed knoppix 3.8 onto an unused hdd, i installed grub, as it asked, just on the root partition...since it's the only one, and when i try to boot that hdd first, the kernel isn't loading or something Error 8:Kernel must be loaded before booting, is what i'm getting, how can i loat the kernel? i didn't config grub at all or lilo*

This means the boot loader can't find the kernel image on your boot drive.

Two possiblities,
1. Either you have more then one hard drives in your system such that the hard drive containing Linux installation is not the first bootable hard drive on the system.


2. you have more then one partitions in your linux installation drive such that grub or lilo boot loader can't find the partition where the kernel image resides.
