Error 5 in Kb3 writing Windows Data

Hi all really hope you can help.

Ok, so tricky suitation a registery cleaner deleted my NTFS system regestiry files which mean I cant access my Hard Disk which has a LOT of important information. No one can figure out what to do. So myself and a friend hatch a plan to use Linux, which is great cause it doesnt care about Windows NTFS files, now something to tell you, Im using Knoppix Boot CD which I downloaded from the web, good it is too. But the thing is, Ive worked out to write between hard disk's which is cool, but it goes at slower than 56k. So I want to write by CD. But it seems Kb3 will only write files of the same type, ie all .doc files. Which isnt really the path for me to go down seen as theres hundereds of files not all .doc (3D modeler here lots of textures etc and music files the lot)
It gives me and Input/Output error which it calls Error 5. Anyhelp please?? Thanks all.
