Error 21: Selected disk does not exist

Hello, im new to your community and i wanted to post a problem i am receiving after numerous installs on the same pc every time. I own an asus eee pc900 and i wanted to install ubuntu eee 8.04.1 on it. I did it correctly all the way until after installation finished the last restart was required. I pressed restart now and then there was nothing than the blank black screen and the leds of power and wireless lit. After about one and a half hours i got frustrated and turned it off. Ever since when i try to power it on after grub loads i recieve error 21: selected disk does not exist. I really dont know what to do. I tried to install a new fresh copy about 5-6 times, every time the same. Any ideas?

I did not manually configured the partitions i selected Guided entire disk and selected the asus phison 16gb disk. You think manual partitioning would solve that?

In order to figure out what is causing your Grub error 21, I think it would be helpful to get some more info about your setup. How about booting your Live CD (the Ubuntu install CD), download the Boot Info Script to your Ubuntu desktop, open a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and do:
Code:
sudo bash ~/Desktop/boot_info_script*.sh
That will create a "RESULTS.txt" file in the same directory from where the script is run, namely your desktop; please copy/paste the contents of that file to your next post, highlight the copied text, and click the pound sign # graphic in the forum message box so that the text will get "code" tags put around it. The results of that script will help clarify your setup and hopefully what your booting problem might be.

How did you install Ubuntu then? Are you saying you can't boot your Ubuntu USB flash drive any more? You can run that script from any Linux desktop, whether it is a Live CD, full install, USB install, etc.

I have a desktop with windows which im not willing to mess and a laptop on which im trying to install ubuntu via removable usb flash drive. I made the live cd from my desktop downloading the unetbooting and the ubuntu as an iso file and run it on my desktop. Instead of restarting after flash was ready i booted from removable on the laptop. Anyway i will try what farslayer posted above and see what happens. Probably the problem is at the partitioning.
