error 17


I repartitioned my second hard drive which has ubuntu 7.10 installed. How ever when I boot up I get the message "error 17. cannot mount partition". How can I rectify this please as I need to urgently access my desktop.

Boot into a LiveCD. Edit /boot/grub/menu.lst in your Ubuntu partition and change the partitions mentioned in menu.lst to conform to your new partition arrangement.

error 17

Thank you. On my second hard drive the swap is hdb1 and Linux is hdb2. In the menu.lst the roor showed hdb 1,0 so I changed it to hdb 1,1 being the second partition on my second hard drive, but still the same message, error 17 cannot mount partition.Any further help would be appreciated.
