Epson XP 202 scanner not detected

I have an all in one Epson XP 202 Printer, Scanner, Photocopier. In Linux the Printer works very well but I can not make Linux recognise I have a Scanner. When I launch Simple Scan it tells me "NO scanner detected." I have downloaded the Epson Linux driver package and endeavoured to follow the install instruction. However I have to admit I have been so far unsuccessful. Any advice to simplify or offer an alternative answer to this problem will be well received.

Are you connected directly to your printer, or using it in wifi mode through your router?

The reason I ask is that I very recently installed the Epson scan software on my Mint 18.1 MATE machine for my Epson XP-432 printer, but can only scan if directly connected to the printer. If you're happy enough with that, I'll share what I did to get it to work.

I have an XP-220 in the house. I recall trying briefly to get wifi working, but desisted. I too connect via USB.

Ok. Sorry that I can't help then. I print through wifi with no problems at all, but I just couldn't get the scanner to work through wifi. I have a laptop so it's easy enough for me to directly scan from the printer.

I'd obviously be very interested to learn if you do get it working.
