Entry-Level Distribution

I'm actually pretty experienced with Linux/Unix systems but I haven't tried very many distributions. I'm trying to put a new distribution on my home machine to run a webserver and possibly mailserver. I want something that's easy to update and install new software. Mandrake (at least version 10.0) is out of the question because my mouse doesn't work no matter what I try. What sounds good to you guys?

Then your best bet will probably be Fedora Core 2, however make sure you check the hardware compatability for your system and which distro you plan to use.

Mandrake 10.1 is my recommendation. I just spent two miserable months in Fedora Core 2 - it almost took me that long in my spare time to get everything working. Mandrake gave me mouse trouble in 10.0 but in 10.1 - no problems at all.

If not that, then for a non-free download try Suse Professional 9.2 coming out now.
