Im beginning to feel like i live here lately...

Ive tried under setting in KDE for the browser but it doesnt seem to kick in.
MY dads like 70 and likes linux but the text is too small, so please help me to help him and i can get back to playing with my own linux problems lol :)

change font size
or better still, change theme to one other than default under KDE
then
reboot
this one of the few times that a reboot is necessary to make a change happen

i know this cus i have changed themes in KDE and thought, "but it hasn't made much difference" and then next time i start up all the on screen fonts are much bigger

A theme does not require a reboot... Restart X instead:
CTRL ALT BACKSPACE

Yes, there are utilities for impaired, check out:
xzoom
xmag
ftp://ftp.cs.rpi.edu/pub/unwindows
dynamag
I found these all listed here:
http://www.linuxdocs.org/HOWTOs/Access-HOWTO-8.html

If you are interested in something much more geared towards seeing impaired:
http://ocularis.sourceforge.net/

Cool
