Figure out what application(s) you want to use, then read their requirements. Google is a good starting point. |
What kind of engineering? Mechanical engineering? Electrical engineering? Software engineering? Chemical engineering?

Thanks for reply
I mean simulation aplication for engineering for example I heard about a linux distribution whose name is Salome-meca but i would like to know if there are another linux distribution. thanks for help |
There is CAELinux. Never tried it myself though.
You might take a look but if I were in your shoes I'd just pick any main stream distro and search its software repositories for the software you need. Installing a distro such as CAELinux will really only give you something based on something else (in this case Ubuntu) with a preselection of software that you could also install on the base distro. (No offense towards CAELinux meant) If that preselection happens to meet your needs it will save you some time but the reality probably is that it will meet your needs only half way. If you want to do serious work in engineering, first look for the tools. Once you selected the tools, choose the OS that supports them best. I am deliberately saying OS, because based on what your tools are, you may have an easier time on a non-Linux OS... |
Salome Meca can be added to any Linux distribution
http://www.salome-platform.org/downl...urrent-version It's also available in the repository of Ubuntu. |
