Encrypting passwords when connecting to windows domain

I am using Fedora. When I connect to a windows server using nautilus smb, it asks for my user name and password and then says that they will be sent unencrypted. Is there a setting somewhere to make sure my user name and password are encrypted? Thanks.

No, I believe that a samba network is either set to use cleartext passwords, or the opposite. If set for cleartext by the browsemaster smb.conf ... tough luck.
(pretty, but not entirely sure)

OK, but if it is either set to one or the other, it should stand to reason that I can change it to one or the other, correct? Any help would be appreciated. I would like to start using Linux in the existing environment, but passwords are not acceptable. Thanks.
