Encode DV to H.264 for PS3 playback

As a linux (but also video) newbie, I'm looking for any help to point me in the right direction.

I have some DV files that I would like to encode to H.264 format. I'm looking for the best quality (I don't care about filesize). My DV's are stereo, PAL, 16:9, 720x576 resolution. The mp4 file should be playable on PS3.

I think I should use ffmpeg, but which options???

Tx for your help
