Question Enabling Z-Modem?

Lo all,

Can someone please give me some pointers on setting up this service, or one of the other file transfer protocols like X-Modem or Y-modem etc. The OS is SUSE Linux 7.2

User on remote Windows PC dialling directly into the Linux server via terminal emulation package.

They need to be able to retrieve a file from the server directly to their Windows desktop. Windows machine is not on a network of any kind. their terminal emulation package supports X,Y and Z modem trasfers but I understand that this service has to be installed/enabled on the server to work.

Alternatively is there another windows package that might be able to ahndle this transfer nativly without any fuirther work on the server?

I will greatly appreciate any replies. If someone wants to point me towards a decent web resource for this kind oif thing I am preapared to do a bit of I have no idea how complicated this is likely to be.

Since X/Y/Z modem file transfer protocols were used quite widely on the old school BBSs, taking a gander at that type of software would be the best way of doing things.

A search for 'BBS Software' comes up with this. I would also suggest looking into Odyssey software (for DOS) if you can get it - it was one of the easiest comms packages around (IMO).

Where are my manners? Welcome to LQ.
