Enabled APCI; now my computer hangs at boot...

...what the #$%^ did I do?

Running Mandrake 9.2 on an H-P notebook.

Following the instructions of one of the threads on this board, I enabled APCI through the Mandrake Control Center. Now, when i try to boot the machine, after I select any of the three linux-related options, the system hangs...

Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. I'm having to go online through Windows XP (p'tooey), and I'd really like to get back to the friendly confines of KDE...

One more piece of info...

When I try to boot with "linux-nonfb" or "failsafe," the system hangs at a line that says, "Looking for DSDT in initrd ... not found!"

Thanks in advance for any helpful hints.

There was an errata on the Mandrake site about this problem. You need to add nolapic to the append line in your lilo.conf file.(If your using lilo) Do not forget to run lilo after you make changes then reboot and all should be well.

Also make sure you have acpi and acpid installed and marked for start on boot up.

I didn't select the acpi box on my computer. My lilo.config has "acpi=ht" in the append= line.
