Enable xwindows in rhel5.1


I installed rhel 5.1 only with cli support. Now wants to setup xwindows and enable remote desktop.

Appreciate your prompt response in this regards.

run this:

yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"

for a remote desktop I would very strongly recommend the free version of NX from nomachine.org

Hi!!

I run this command and it updated ~179 rpms. after that i press the startx command. it give the following errors


Fatal server error:
no screens found
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

I think that system-config-display is still used in el5. run that to set up the X server.
