emule and ipchains
Hi There...
I have a AMD K6-2 which is running as a pure linux server with SuSE 7.0 and the 2.2.18 Kernel in my basement for about a year now. It is connected to my ADSL (actually it's the German T-DSL but i think that works out to be the same) and to a local network with 3 WindowsXP machines.
It is only meant to do the forwarding of the internet connection to all the XP clients. When i set it up, i was too stupid to configure a proper firewall, and to be honest, i still am. I got some ipchains commands of a friend, and then it worked (all the clients could access the internet), so i never touched it again....
the commands are as follows:
----------------------------------------------------------
ipchains -F output
ipchains -F input
ipchains -P input ACCEPT
ipchains -P output ACCEPT
ipchains -P forward MASQ
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
----------------------------------------------------------
Now i have the problem that i am getting the old LOWID-problem with emule, which means, that i cant run a server on the XPclients on the port 4662. I read through a million posts, which all had to do with iptables, which my machine doesn't seem to have and i'm too stupid to install it...
i even tried to update my kernel ... but that didn't work out either...
Now I'm absolutely exhausted and turn to you guys as a last resort!! HELP... isn't there a simple small ipchains command, that i could just add to my ipchains command list, so that emule works on the Clients and leave my poor server alone for the next year....???
Please help...
Thank you already...

Hi!
Thats my problem, too. It would be nice, if somebody could help us. all tutorials for forwarding the edonkey-port i read reffered to iptables :-(
i tried to understand it by reading the howto, but edonkey never connected with highid. so this is my last try aswell.
thank you for help

Have you resolved this problem?
If you have, would you be so kind as to post the info for all of us to see?
Thanks,

see.... thats the whole point.....
NO IPTABLES.....
its like a really old computer... it as a thing called ipchains... which appears do be the predecessor of iptables.... but its horribly complex....
and ive red the ipchains manpages like a thousand times now... i still dont get it...
cant install iptables either, cause than id need a kernel update, and i dont know how to do that... and i dont want to fuck it up in the end....

I have still not solved my problem with e-mule having low ID but here is a web page that goes over a lot of ideas on how this could be done. Check it out,

*Edit - problem solved go to the link above for answer.
