Is it Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook PST?

Thunderbird has a Import tool for Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook

In Thunderbird

Tools>Import>Mail>
choose if it is Outlook or Outlook Express

No it means "Windows Mail" Its a program that comes with Vista. Vista is not compatible with Outlook. They are trying to get rid of Outlook - it always was an overkill. Thanks for your imput - have found the ans now

It took me 10 seconds to find a solution by googling. Next time why not try that yourself?
1. Export from Windows Mail to T-Bird on Vista. Here's how.
2. Import the T-Bird mail from Vista to Linux.
3. That's it. ;)

Desdd57,

It will be really helpful if you modify the thread title as "Transferring mails from WindowsMail to Thunderbird".

Other people looking for the solution will be able to search for the thread then.

Will look at these sites anishak, but it's not Outlook - Vista does not like Outlook and has it's own email prgrm called simply "Windows Mail". :) And I have found an answer I think in the 2nd site - Thankyou thankyou thankyou. And to all you other guys who responded I appreciate very much!!! Wow there is some really good thoughts here

Windows mail stores the messages as .EML files. You can use the ImportExportTools extension to import .EML files. It lets you select multiple .EML files at the same time.

Download the ImportExportTools extension by right clicking on the link and choosing Save target as. Now on Thunderbird, go to Tools -> Add-ons (or Extensions) and click Install. Pick the xpi file you downloaded and follow the instructions. Restart Thunderbird.

You are welcome and now kindly change the title of this thread, see post 8, and mark the thread SOLVED (see the top of the page) if you think the solution has been found .
