Email and Web Proxy Server Setup

Hello There,

We are truely tired of Windows with endless problems.

We want to setup a Fedora C3 Server with the following in mind, we would like to use only (if possible) what is available with the distro:

Internet Proxy Server (SQUID seems to be very popular)

A POP3 and IMAP Email Proxy Server (this will pickup mail from pop3 accounts from our web host)

A SPAM Filter

A file sharing program with security (everyone talks of SAMBA)

A firewall to protect our server from the rest of the world

What would you advise and where can we get all the info to come up with such a bundle?

Thanks in advance for your response and patience.

Rgds,

A file sharing program with security (everyone talks of SAMBA) of course SAMBA

A firewall to protect our server from the rest of the world iptables

Basically except for spamassassin which I do not really know about all packages mentioned above in bold are readily present in most major distro. (FC and Suse and Mandrake)

Even if you forgot to install them during first time setup, you can always add them back easily by yum or apt.

I would of course recommend FC to you to start with

Consult the FC installation guid for more information. They have some nice 'package' in the setup that make your life easier.

For example, if you choose 'web server' and 'mail server' etc... the installer will installs these relevant packages into the harddisk. No sweat.

see http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora...s_2fCore4Test1 for more detail.
