emacs in Fedora 8

I am newbie in Linux environment. I have downloaded latest emacs version form net. But not able to install it. where to unzip and untar it.

do we need to make any changes in .bash_profile file to make it run on command line.

Install it with the package manager, or from the command line as root type

yum install emacs
