EeePC 4G - forgot user password
Hi,
I've gave my son (7yrs) my old Eee PC 4G and he changed by mistake the user password and forgot the new password. How can I overwrite the password? The only password I have is the BIOS Supervisor password... What can I do? Easy fix is preferred because I've no clue re Linux. Even formating and reinstall would be an option. (all data are on SD) I could boot from USB or SD but don't know what program I need and were to get it from. Thanks |
Welcome to the forums! Which Linux "distribution" (Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, Xandros, etc.) are you using? Most distributions have a "recovery mode" that can be used to reset a lost/forgotten password. For example here is how to reset the password in Ubuntu: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword
Tell me which distribution you're using and I'll try to find specific instructions for you. :) |
its probably xandros.
see if you can adjust the boot parameters... look here : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...4/#post4201075 if you can login into init 1 just reset the password: passwd your_user_name and enter the new password. |
Thanks snowpine!
Unfortunately I've no clue :( No clue re Linux and no clue re the EeePC  I've copied the original recovery CD (came with the netbook) onto a SD card and booted from there but without any success :o( |
If it is the Linux that came preinstalled, it's probably Xandros. I've never used Xandros, but perhaps this link will help?
