First insert the bootable flash drive into a USB 2.0 port. Many BIOS versions are not yet able to boot from a USB 3.0 port. I'm not sure why that is the case.
Then boot the Asus notebook and use the ESC key to enter BIOS.
Once you are in the BIOS, disable "fast boot" and then disable "secure boot control".
Then save the BIOS settings and reboot.
Now use ESC to enter the BIOS a second time.
Under the "Boot" tab, enable "Launch CSM". Apparently, Asus calls MBR/legacy boot "Compatibility Support Manager" or CSM.
Save the settings and reboot again.
This time the ESC key will give you access to the boot menu and you should see your legacy bootable flash drive as a listed option.

Thank you

That couldnt have been in easier terms to understand. Im relatively new to this and i really think my problem is the computer vocabulary and understanding what these words mean. Im making progress though from a simple windows drone into the beautiful abyss of linux! That solved my problem thanks again.
