Editting Build Scripts

Im currently attempting to install a driver for my wireless card, and Im having one heck of a time. Ive made it about halfway through, but I ran into this in the tutorial Im following:

"At this point you need to patch your kernel's build scripts to include the
IPW2100 source directory. For instructions on doing this, see the
file patches/README."

I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. I searched for a patches folder, and read a whole bunch of readmes, but Im still stuck. Can anyone here lend me a hand? Thanks in advance.

I managed to figure it out myself. The patch/readme was referring to a file that it had assumed I already installed, but I had not yet, as I had not gotten that far in the tutorial. I am all set now though, and have figured this part out.
