How to edit programs that run at startup?

Are you asking how to add programs to startup at boot time or edit existing ones that startup ?? You can edit your startup scripts usually in the /etc/rc.d directory if that is what your looking for ??

i want to remove some programs which run after running startx.

Edit your ~/.xinitrc file (or possibly .xsession)
