Editing LaTex files on a tablet/ebook device?

Hi All,

Reading and revising LaTex 20-page documents seems to be much more easier with a printout (hardcopy) then reading them off a screen. However, I cannot edit the document in real-time (just scrabble comments on the paper) which is cumbersome.

So it there a tablet or even better an ebook device (with e-ink which is easier on the eyes) where I can read document similarly to a printout and edit them in real-time?.

Thanks,
Mike.

It's not clear to me whether you want to edit the LaTeX source file or you want to edit the output (dvi, pdf or whatever).

Okular lets you annotate pdf etc (just use F6 or Tools->Review). I have also used flpsed to write notes on top of Postscript and PDF files, although it's only good for short notes, and for filling in forms.

To mark up LaTeX source with changes, deletions, comments etc, you could use the changes package available from CTAN. It lets you insert stuff like \replaced[mike11]{new text}{old text}, so that you will see MS-Word-like coloured change annotations in the output document.

Thanks for replying. I meant editing the source files: I'd like to have a full page view of the document (as if I was reading a printout) and when I need to make a change I can bring up the text editor, revise, recompile the LaTex source files and view the revised PDF, all on the same device.

Cheers,
Mike.

Sounds like you want a hybrid eink + lcd device. A quick google revealed a few interesting candidates.
For example:

http://www.entourageedge.com/devices...rage-edge.html

this one is runs android, so you may be able to hack a latex install.
