Editing document on installation path

Hi,
I'm installing some software on a RedHat based O/S and have the instruction to
- 'Edit the document “document name” on the installation path.'

How do I find what the installation path is for this document? Are all programs installed in the same basic place on Linux machines?

I have tried the 'locate' command and it is not found.
I have tried (find / -name 'documentname') and get a whole bunch of output saying:

find: /lost+found: Permission denied
find: /proc/tty/driver: Permission denied
find: /proc/1/task/1/fd: Permission denied
find: /proc/1/fd: Permission denied
...................................
................................
find: /var/cache/mod_proxy: Permission denied
find: /var/core: Permission denied

When I do 'sudo find / -name 'document-name'', I get prompted for the password but then there is no output.

Any help appreciated.

Tell us what SW you're installing and which method you are using.

Hi chrism01,

I'm installing Dells UPS management software onto a VMware ESXi (redhat) server via a virtual machine console.

The software was installed using the command sudo './setup_consle.bin'.

Does this help?

cheers
