Edit xinitrc

Hi,

Im trying to set up my mouse and part of that is to set the line

Code:
xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5"
in my xinitrc file.
I put the line in the file but it still doesnt read it (checked with xmodmap -pp). What i figure it could be two things.

1. I put the line on the wrong place inside the file. There is a exit 0 at the bottom of my xinitrc ,i put the line above that. Is that wrong?

2. I put the line in the wrong file. The file where i put the line is

Code:
/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
are there more xinitrc files and is this the correct file for my code?

you should use probably the users's own ~/.xinitrc file (~ is your home directory; ~/ means the same as /home/username/)..or if you don't have one, then create it:

Code:
touch ~/.xinitrc
<editor> ~/.xinitrc
where <editor> is the editor of your choise (nano, joe, vim, emacs, gedit, ...)
