Your boot-loader config file. If Ubuntu 10.04, probably best to set up a custom menu entry, else you'll keep losing your change. Have a read of this

Thanks,

I've found the file i need to edit

/boot/grub/grub.cfg

But I'm told:

Do not edit

and permission is denied anyway. I cant remember how I should proceed from here.

Go back and read all of that link - set up a custom entry.
