I'm getting the same errors. I followed the instructions to install Java and Eclipse at: csfalcon dot com (I can't post the links, according to the forum rules)
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not being successful with apt-get either.
Code:
$ sudo apt-get install eclipse-platform
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
eclipse-platform: Depends: java-common (>= 0.23) but it is not installable
Depends: eclipse-rcp (= 3.2.2-3ubuntu3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libjsch-java (>= 0.1.28) but it is not installable
Depends: libtomcat5.5-java but it is not going to be installed
$ sudo apt-get install java-common eclipse-platform
Package java-common is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
I don't know what version of Java it was running, but when I specified the path to the vm I just downloaded (/path/to/eclipse -vm /path/to/java/executable), it worked. I downloaded both Java and Eclipse and NOT USED APT-GET.
Thanks Matt for the tip and for everyone who posted.
