I'm getting the same errors. I followed the instructions to install Java and Eclipse at: csfalcon dot com (I can't post the links, according to the forum rules)
Any ideas? Thanks

Please use the cmd to verify the current java version.
Maybe 2 reason:
1. java version
2. eclipse install files corrupted
first to confirm the java version.

Then the eclipse installed by yourself or apt by distro?
Ubuntu have jdk and eclipse packages in the depository, you can use apt-get to install the packages.
You can also read the eclipse log files in the configure dir for detail infomation about the corrupt.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not being successful with apt-get either.
Code:
$ sudo apt-get install eclipse-platform
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
eclipse-platform: Depends: java-common (>= 0.23) but it is not installable
Depends: eclipse-rcp (= 3.2.2-3ubuntu3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libjsch-java (>= 0.1.28) but it is not installable
Depends: libtomcat5.5-java but it is not going to be installed
$ sudo apt-get install java-common eclipse-platform
Package java-common is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

I got it.
I don't know what version of Java it was running, but when I specified the path to the vm I just downloaded (/path/to/eclipse -vm /path/to/java/executable), it worked. I downloaded both Java and Eclipse and NOT USED APT-GET.
Thanks Matt for the tip and for everyone who posted.
