I just installed Eclipse yesterday with PyDev to use as editor for my Python projects and used this file:
eclipse-java-indigo-SR1-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz, which is the first link on this page. It works great. The one I used is 64 bit and I installed it on Debian, but I imagine it should work for you too. If I'm not mistaking, Eclipse relies heavily on Java. Do you have Java installed and is it working?

Kind regards,
