EciADSL and Internet connection sharing
Hi there,
I'm pretty new to Linux... so correct me if i'm getting it wrong... Had some trouble when setting up my low-budget (shitty) adsl modem, but it does the trick. Eicon Diva adsl modem is standard in Belgium's internet provider - Belgacom Skynet. Anyway i got it to work on my Mandrake 9.0 config with the help of a eciadsl 0.5 driver. But i cant get connection sharing to work with it. The problem is, this fix is a hack and the modem isn't recognized by harddrake (it is but only under unknown devices) so when i try to set up internet connection sharing with mandrake control center it only finds 1 network adapter, my ethernet card. In that window it also says to have a adsl connection (type pppoe) but i know it should use the pppoeci made by eciADSL driver. anyone know how i could assign adsl connection to this pppoeci. So that mandy will recognize it as a modem? ifconfig shows a eth0, lo and ppp1. All configured well and networking (based on DHCP between linux and windows2K seems to be working) Thanx for your time wiNGCom |
i'll make it more easy :)
i want a device thats in unknown devices in the known devices as adsl modem and i want to root lan traffic through it ... i was hoping it could be done editing some files and manually configuring things but since i'm pretty new to linux i'll need more time or some expert help/ tips, but i want to install routing and firewall as quick as possible... security reasons Or when i'm totally mistaking: is there anyone who pulled this thing off out there? ANY help would be appreciated, thanx |
