easy port forwarding for ubuntu

I have a net connection throw a server but I dont know the type of it, this server makes a net limitation for every user to 20 kilo bytes per sec but when I make a download throw the torrent p2p the download isnt straight 20 KB but its up and down like that (9, 17, 18, 14, 11, 6, 18) so people advise me to make a port-forwarding.

I am using ubuntu 8.10.

If I understand you correctly, this is something the system adminstrator of the server (you connect through) would have to do.

Torrent downloads are rarely fixed at a given transfer rate. It rather normal that the transfer rate changes all the time - this is not caused by your net access limits, but rather by the PC's and torrent settings of your peers.

Having a max. transfer limit means that you will never get more data than that limit, but it surely can be less.
