E-mail Server access by domain name Globally
Dear Experts,
I have set up a qmail server in ubuntu. Its IP is 192.168.1.5 with hostname mail.abc.com. With these setting i am able access e-mail with all admin features on the LAN. I have given ipaddress in thunderbird account setting for smtp and pop settings. All is working fine. Now i am in dark that how can i access this server globally, because now it is working fine.
What are the other requirement and action to be done to achieve my goals. Some things are so simple that they are not mentioned anywhere.
With warm regards,
VJ++ Byte C0de

what do you want to access about it globally? If it's in a home network behind an ADSL router or equivalent, you'd want to look at port forwarding on your router... is that the sort of thing you mean? www.portforward.com is a very useful resource if you aren't already au fait with this. You also want to ensure that your server is not configured as an open relay, and you can find various services, like Shields Up which will test your IP for open relay status.

Thanks for the reply. I mean not in this way. I have setup a qmail server as mentioned on qmailrocks.org. Now my server is working fine in my office LAN. Now tell me that what are other requirements or work around, so if i will type globally at any where on any system mail.abc.com then my server could open as we use mail.yahoo.com or gmail.com. Because my working server is having Class C IP.
Hope that i will able to clear it now.
Thanks and regards,
VJ++ Byte Code

well that's a webmail server, qmail is largely irrelevant to that, You'd need to install one, e.g. squirelmail, roundcube etc. Read their docs and follow them.
