Unhappy E-mail deletion problem

At my workplace I have a Linux (Red Hat 7.2) server that handles all our e-mails using the Linux 'sendmail' utility. I want to set up a service on the server using a Unix shell script (I am really poor at this) by which old e-mails lying in the inboxes of some of the user accounts would be deleted automatically on a periodic basis(say 4 days from the date a particular e-mail was received). The catch here is that only those e-mails should be deleted that were received exactly 4 days ago and not all of them.
I am really stuck with this problem. If u guys have a script or a program that could perform this function, kindly send it to me or if u know a better way of doing this then please let me know. I would really, really appreciate.
